Leuma Lito CPT Christina Parsley English 1033-23 12 November 2014 Persuasive Essay Health Tax on Smoking The belief that cigarette is an unnecessary tax on society discriminates the big picture behind its chaotic effect. Although many supporters of the idea that smoking is bad a habit to enjoy and would agree that cigarettes are being over taxed and it is a hassle, they do not understand the fact that there are many health problems caused by it. Those who believe in this way of living, are very passionate about their simple ideology, although they lack the knowledge that smoking can cause serious damage to the society, they have yet to find out the hard way. However, health tax will help improve the way society is, and it will prove that it could change many live. Four prominent examples of why I believe health tax should be raised on smoking because smoking causes majority of inevitable deaths in the U.S. Taxes on tobacco are a proven strategic plan that will reduce smoking and extend lives, the impact of Tobacco tax is less regressive. Nicotine, a rare alkaloid much likes caffeine and morphine, which is very addictive in its own profound way. But what others may not know about nicotine is that it is highly toxic, for example, if a partial amount of nicotine alone is consumed without any liquid substance, it will result that person’s instant death.
